Bilbao basque FEST: the great festival of Basque culture

Five days over which to experience the charm of Bilbao and the Basque culture. Bilbao basque FEST will take place this Easter, offering an extensive programme of around 200 events for all ages and tastes. From 27 to 31 March, the festival will bring together 156 artists in concerts, dances, stand up performances and street shows. Everyone is invited to take part in and enjoy pilgrimages, exhibitions of traditional sports, tastings and workshops with the best products from our land.

It will have its usual six themes: Gourmet, Culture, Music, Market, Cinema and Sport. Female talent and new bands are in the spotlight in this year’s festival, but we should not forget its classic elements: parades, dances, dramatized routes from the ‘Hosts of Bilbao’, walks along the estuary with Mirentxu and Begotxu and more.

Bilbao basque FEST has also expanded its children’s events. Doña Casilda park will play host each day to circus workshops and theatre sessions, while the Ensanche Building will be the venue for several magic shows. Boys and girls will also receive a very special visit again, from the popular and fun Gargantua on the esplanade of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Visitor attraction

This event boosts the revitalisation of the city over the days of the festival and attracts tourists and locals alike thanks to its unique events. As a strategic project, it generates activity and supports Bilbao’s commercial sector. It also provides a boost for local products and services through its Txoko Gourmet, a space to highlight the exquisite Basque gastronomy and the attractions found in the tourist districts.
